Happy Holidays and Prosperous 2010!

Wishing everyone out there a very very merry holiday weekend, whether or not you celebrate Xmas, hope you are surrounded by great friends and family.

A lot of people had a really crappy 2009 (why beat around the busy?)...but 2010 can only get better. We shouldn't even settle for "better"...we should aim for extraordinary and see what happens :-)

Resolutions, anyone? Usually I forget about my resolution the first week of the New Year, so this time around, I'm going to choose 2 or 3 long term goals that I can work towards. But more about that in my next posting.

Gift Vouchers are Now Available

Do you ever go on a website and see a bunch of cute stuff that you would love to buy as presents, but you're just not quite sure whom would like what? Many guys have emailed me with this issue, particularly when it comes to choosing undergarments for the woman in their lives.

So, in response, I've decided to do gift vouchers! I'm starting just with $50 and $100 options. What's great is that once you purchase the voucher, they can email me directly with a list of items they would like, thereby forgoing the whole checkout process...(which is a big relief for most!)

Vouchers expire within 60 days of purchase, and they include the cost of shipping (most USA shipping costs around $5...so if you got $45 worth of items + $5 shipping, you are good to go.)
If for some reason, the items + shipping is more than the gift voucher, they can either pay the balance, or choose a less expenive item!!

Happy Holidays!

45 Days till X-Mas!!!

There's just a month and a half left until Christmas so you must be in some stage of Xmas shopping, or at least thinking about what you should get for whom. With the economy being worse than it has been in recent years, and the unemployment rate at 10.2% (the highest it has been since 1982), chances are you are watching your budget very closely--a very smart thing to do.

Itsy Bitsy Bra Bar offers you some great deals in the bargain section: http://bit.ly/RWiHl
Jewelry accessories, sleepwear, massage oils, little trinkets that can serve as nice little tokens of appreciation to those in your life (it's not ALL bras!). But of course if you are between an AA to a small C cup, you can check out our bra selection as well.

I've had some friends mention how stressed out they are already about the holiday season, but if you start preparing early (like now!) you'll be way ahead of everyone else!!

Back from Europe and ready for the Holiday Rush

I returned from my European Adventures with my BFF's. It was certainly interesting. We did so much in 6 days...including Amsterdam, Leiden (a city about 25 minutes outside of Amsterdam), Vienna, and Budapest!

I love Amsterdam. I was there a couple times a few years before and it's such a cute little city--yet there is everything to do and see you will ever need. From great cafes/restaurants, to shopping, nightlife, sight-seeing, canal tours, museums, etc. And the people are friendly, happy, and diverse.

Although I think something has to be said for myself in terms of getting older. When I was in college, I could hop from one country to the next and maintain my excitement and enthusiam for each city without looking back. This time around, I noticed that although hopping from place to place was an interesting and fun experiene (thanks to the great company,) I was actually really tired with all the moving about......Normally I'm the first one to be up and about and ready to explore. But this time I was like "you guys get ready first...i'm just going to lay down for another 30 minutes."...LOL. Next vacation I'm foreshadowing a beach + beach chair + book + tropical drink.
;-)

That being said, can you believe it's almost November? Holiday season is here, and as always I hope there's something on the site you can find as a small token for yourself (cuz you deserve it) or for someone else in your life.

Message me with questions!
Vitra
PS--Pics from the trip can be found on my facebook page. (just search for Itsy Bitsy Bra Bar)--you may have to add me as a friend to get access.

Cheers!

Soon to be Bride (or Bridesmaid??)...Petite Items just for you!

If you are a petite woman, you are used to the frustration of shopping for clothes that actually fit properly. The experience is even worse if you are a petite woman who is getting married, OR if you have a petite friend who is getting married. The challenge of finding cute lingerie is very evident.

At Itsy Bitsy Bra Bar, we've got a section especially devoted for all-things-wedding under the "Bridal" Category. All sizes are Small and the products are very cute.
Also check out our "lingerie section" for tons of other options, at affordable prices!

Are you Bold enough to BRAG????

I'm talking about the Bra Bag aka The Brag! This cute concoction is something that bold women have no problem travelling with. The 2 colors and styles are cute, and let's just say the guys at immigration are not going to hassle you to open this item. LOL...WELL, then again--unless they are curious to see what kind of intimates you wear.
The Bra Bag also comes with the "panty pak"--just as cute and very useful...and can be used simply inside your luggage or held in your hand.

Both items are on sale now at http://www.itsybitsybrabar.com/

Are you bold enough???

Taking Care of those Undergarments

In this posting, I'll just briefly summarize the best way to take care of your undies (I guess this advice is more for ladies' bras, panties, and lingerie. Guys are lucky and can really just do anything they want with their undies.) Also because bras are becoming more and more expensive and fancy, sticking them in with all your other clothes will reduce the life of the item. You want to get the most bang (um, no pun intended) out of your buck for your panties, bras, and lingerie.

There are 2 main ways: Either handwash or putting in a "lingerie/mesh" bag.

For handwashing, fill up your tub or sink with lukewarm water and put some mild laundry detergent in as well (you can find "lingerie" detergent online if you want to be that careful.) Rise and rub them gently. When finished washing, squeeze gently to remove excess water, and hang dry on line or drying rack to air dry. Simple, right??

(From what I've read online, it seems that you should wash bras after one or 2 wearings as perspiration, perfumes, and other factors might cause the material to stretch or stain.)

For washing in the machine, put your intimates in a seperate wash from all the other items. Place inside of a "lingerie" or "mesh" bag. Be sure to hook the bras because if left open, they can snag on to your other items. Put on a Delicate cycle, use a mild detergent once again, and use Cold water. Do not dry your lingerie or underwear in the machine beause the heat will affect the material, padded, and elasticity of the item.

That's the basics of it!

Happy Monday to All!

The Changing of the Season

I don't know what happened over the past week, but here in NYC, we went from lovely nice warm and somwhat breezy weather, to just plain nippy coolish winds...it feels like the Fall already. What happened to us? This summer we (in NY) literally had about 5 weeks of summer. That's something the groundhog didn't predict at all.

Yesterday was also the first day of school here. Now that parents don't have to take their kids around during the week, or keep an eye on them, the parents can actually go out and play. Case in point: Went to a cafe that I had gone to last week. Last week, there were a total of about 5 people there by 9:30am sitting and having their coffee/tea, etc. Today, by 9:30, this place (which is pretty big) was packed solid. I felt so bad that my computer was plugged into an outlet (because it dies after about 5 minutes of not being plugged in) that I decided to be considerate and leave after an hour (normally i would just sit there all day trying to get some work done.)

That's my story for now. yesterday was 9-9-09...anything interesting happen to anyone?

Measuring yourself to find your perfect Bra Size

Happy Friday!! 5pm is the start of labor day weekend, so hope you guys are geared up for a fun-filled (and safe) weekend!!

I wanted to post how to measure yourself to find your perfect bra size, because as much as we think we are one size, it's surprising that most of us are actually wrong!!
All you need is a measuring tape!

1) Meaure the BAND Size by: measure around your bra directly under your bust. (Round all fractional measurements to the nearest whole number.mmIf the measurement is even, add 4 inches. If the measurement is odd, add 5 inches)

2) Measure CUP size by: measuring around the fullest part of your bust (while wearing a non-padded bra.) Round all fractional measurements to the nearest whole number.

3) Calculate your bra size: Subtract your band measurement (step 1) from your cup measurement (step 2). Generally, for each inch in difference, the cup goes up by one size.

See Chart Below:

Difference/ Standard Cup Size:
0"-1/2" (1.3 cm) / AA
1/2"- 1" (2.6 cm) / A
2" (5.1 cm) / B
3" (7.6 cm) / C
4" (10.2 cm) / D
5" (12.7 cm) / DD or E
6" (15.2 cm) / DDD or F
7" (17.8 cm) / G
8" (20.3 cm) / H
9" (22.9 cm) / I
10" (25.4 cm) / J

If you are AA, A, B, and a small C--check out www.ItsyBitsyBraBar.com for some nice options that you may like.

Enjoy!

Life Lessons from a 90-year old!

This was passed on to me by a friend via email--I think it's a nice reminder coming from a woman who has 90 years of experience to prove it:

Written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio"
To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written."
My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.
5. Pay off your credit cards every month.
6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.
12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words 'In five years, will this matter?'
27. Always choose life.
28. Forgive everyone everything.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
35. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's,we'd grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.
42. The best is yet to come.
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift."

Remember that I will always share my spoon with you!
Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.

Missing my BFF

My BFF just left yesterday to do her Masters degree abroad. She will be hitting up 5 countries (at least!) in a year...this begs the question: Why didn't I join her darnit!!!!????

We've been separated before when she went off to college, but that was different...we were much younger and I guess trying to find our own identities and personalities and paths. We got to know other people and make other friends, but after her return, you know it's true friendship forever when our bond actually became stronger as we matured into the "A" word--> Adults!!

She's the person I can turn to in ANY situation to get advice, support, and even though she always has my best interest in mind--she's totally objective, and will put me in my place and let me know when I'm wrong...without being judgmental.

I heart my BFF and I'll miss her, but I'm soooo thrilled she's finally getting to live out some travelling adventures!! AND, hopefully i'll get to visit her in a few cities!!

That's my story for now...I guess I must remind you all to shop at www.ItsyBitsyBraBar.com
Sale going on, and stuff is CHEAP!!

Live Life, No Regrets

In times when we are so happy, it's like you can do no wrong....every single decision contributes to some sense of satisfaction and accomplishment.

However, when the you slow down and things change a bit, you always sort of wonder to yourself, why did I do this, what was I thinking, I should have been smarter...and while you have to ask yourself those questions to dwell upon the fact that you are now not quite as happy--I say that it's pointless. While you may be off your cloud 9 for the moment, weren't the happy times worth it, even if it was short-lived?

At least, that's what we have to tell ourselves to rationalize our misery?? LOL...how does it work? What works for you guys?

Seize the Day

I'll keep this posting short because the point I want to make is really simple.
You know how you toss and idea back and forth in your mind for what seems like forever and still feel unresolved or that you can do something tomorrow...I think it's important to remember always that although we are here today, that doesn't guarantee we'll be here tomorrow.

A family member, in his prime, suddenly passed...out of nowhere...One day he had checked in with us, and then the same night, he collapsed. Young, healthy, and strong, there doesn't seem to be any logical explanation or any reasoning that can answer the question, Why?

So--follow your dreams, seize opportunities, and live without regrets, everyday!

Getting Back into Shape

I have no problem admitting that I'm quite lazy. I didn't always used to be this way! A few years ago I took kickboxing classes 3-4 times a week...Little Vitch could pretty much kick the head off of someone 6'0", belive it or not! Even up to a year and a half ago when I was attending grad school in Florida, I would hit the gym at least 3 times a week because it was an awesome facility, with lots of basketball courts, machines, (a food court), and a nice view of sunset.

Being 5'1" and scrawny, everyone assumes that I'm in shape. But I don't think "being in shape" is about how skinny you are...It's about your endurance, stamina, and not being out of breath after climbing all those darn subway stairs.

With summer approaching, I've started to take baby steps to get back into shape. I also think working out gives you more energy and allows you to focus more...not to mention you obviously become more disciplined, which can translate to benefits in other parts of your life.

About 2 weeks ago, I started some some situps out of the blue!! Since then I have tried to do at least 50 to 70 situps at least 3 times a week. I know you guys are probably like,"that's it?" But like I said--BABY STEPS!! I also played baskbetball on Friday for an hour and 15 minutes straight...and trust me...I was feeling those unused muscles ALLLL weekend!

Once it starts getting warmer in NY, I'm going start jogging in the mornings after I feed my doggies....(yes, warm weather will be my motivator!)

So, how are you guys getting in shape for the summer?? And what other baby step exercises can you recommend?

Please send me your suggestions and feedback about which blogs you follow, which ones are must read, the most popular, etc. They can be about anything and everything--I'm all up for learning about new things and opening my knowledge to any subject.

Thank you so much!

Trinidad Reflections

My 10 days in Trinidad for Carnival was wonderful. It entailed all the ingredients of a "never-gonna-stop-talking-about-that" trip.
We spent waayyy too much money, went to waaay too many parties, and had more than our fair share of aggravation, but it was all well worth it.

The whole fun of Carnival is not just the 2 days where you dress up in a costume and parade around the streets of Port of Spain, but it's all the parties (or "fetes" as we call them), that lead up to those 2 days! To give you an idea of how crazy things were, here is just a small sampling of our schedule:

Wednesday--Land at 1pm, out of airport by 2pm, run errands until 4pm, head to the beach to have some highly anticipated Shark and Bake at Maracas Bay (will post pictures)...get back to hotel at 6pm, short nap/shower, leave at 9:30pm for a Fete called Bacchanal Wednesday.

Thursday--Leave Bacchanal Wednesday at 4:30am, get back to Hotel around 5:15am, sleep until 10:30am, wake up, get ready for another Fete called Beach House, Leave hotel for Fete at 12pm, get to fete at 2pm (LOTS OF TRAFFIC in a little island like Trinidad.) Leave Fete at 10:30pm to pick up another friend, go to downtown port of spain at 11:30pm for a bite to eat, Hotel at 12:30am, catch up all night with friends and how fun the week is going to be, go to sleep at 4am

Friday--Wake up at 7am, get ready and leave for beach at 8am, arrive at beach at 8:45am...spend time ducking from the rain, eating, and meeting nice strangers until 12:15pm...
etc etc etc..

So you can see, we had a very precise itinerary that included lots of things, and little sleep.

One of the best parts of the week was J'Ouvert. We get to a location at 2am Monday morning, and pretty much, rub paint on other people, dance along the street, eat & drink and party until the sun comes up...then everyone gets hosed down (well, not everyone..only if you want to be..)...this finished at like 8-9am, and then that's carnival Monday so you have to get back to your hotel, change into parts of your costume, and then head out again for more partying on the road and dancing on the streets, drinking, eating, and craziness!!

After Carnival, we took a Day Trip to Tobago, which was AMAZING...the atmosphere is so peaceful and serence, but with the underlying fiestiness that defines any Caribbean nation.

We did have some setbacks, like losing a camera (that was my fault), losing a passport, catching colds/fevers...but it was definitely an experience that we will never forget, which makes all the ups and downs worth it!!!

I am going to post an album with some of the highlights of the trip.

ENJOY.

(oh yea--and shop Itsy Bitsy Bra Bar!!) LOL--Had to get that in there.

Petite Models for Petite items--makes sense, no?

Hi all,

I've been testing out using my petite friend to model some of the lingerie on www.ItsyBitsyBraBar.com

I wrote a blog about the experience on PetiteFashionista.com. A reader, Cynthia, also posted a blog about the who idea of using models that actually fit the target market:
http://prospere-magazine.com/2009/02/13/nonstandardmodels/

It's a great question to raise during fashion week.

Bartering making a comeback..

There's an article on the NYTimes.com site about how bartering is making a comeback (the article goes in depth about the system in Russia: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/08/world/europe/08barter.html?_r=1&hp)

However, I too, have noticed small ways in which I've been doing some "small-scale" bartering, particularly now that I have a small business. Before, I never really had much to barter--Sure I had a solid education, video/interviewing/people skills, but no one ever seemed to care!

I actually bartered yesterday. My friend Monica modelled a few products for my website, http://www.itsybitsybrabar.com/. Being a small business owner, will an almost non-existet budget, I didn't really have an monetary compensation for her...SO, instead I gave her some undies!! (She adamantly refused to even take it, until I, in turn, adamantly INSISTED that she take the darn things!!)

Also, my best friend Alisia, works in marketing. She's my pro-bono marketing genius. She's got talent, so I use it...and because she's like family, she'll glady do it without even thinking about wanting something in return..(with Alisia, being fed, entertained by my charming personality, and me calling her a taxi is enough compensation...or so I tell myself.)

Anyway, the point of this long-winded blabbering is that for anyone looking to do, or buy anything, this "bartering" thing may offer you a few alternative solutions that you didn't have before. If you are a makeup artist, do makeup for someone and get some exposure in return, etc. There are so many creative, out-of-the-box ideas that people are willing to try in these times. So even if you don't have tons of money, how can you get something by giving something?

If anyone has any cool bartering stories...would love to hear!

25 Random Things...(from Facebook)

There's been a new activity in the past few days on facebook that appears to be all the rage...
People writing and posting 25 Random things about themselves. I thought I would share mine:

1. The experiences I cherish the most are living like locals do in Bangkok, London, and Mumbai, as well as my other overseas travels.
2. Grammar is my weakness. I just don't like to be restricted by rules...(so i justify to myself.)
3. i prefer writing with no CAPITAL leters...it's so much simpler (refer to #2)
4. My niece Ria is the love of my life (esp. when she's sleeping.)
5. I always feel the need to put parenthesis at the end of my statements (just to clarify for people who may not know.)
6. Others say they're going to do things. I actually do them.
7. Going to Trinidad carnival in 2 weeks.
8. I hate planning and dealing with small details.
9. Just started a very very very small biz.
10. Perfect job would be if someone paid me to travel and talk to people.
11. I love to cook, I put my enthusiasm into it.
12. I've always wanted to learn poker & pool.
13. I'm terrified of the ocean & swimming. I started learning in Florida (baby steps.)
14. #13 is ironic being as I'm from an island.
15. I hate shopping...hate it, hate it, hate it. If you are my friend, you do not subject me to shopping, EVER.
16. I want to take ballroom & latin dance lessons.
17. Favorite food (after Trini) is Thai.
18. Must go to Halloween Horror Nights at Disney World in October!!!!
19. Most people would think I was an introvert...but those who know me, know better.
20. Ideal car would be an Escalade.
21. Next big trip I want to take is to the Galapagos Islands.
22. Next big trip I might take is South Africa in 2010 for Football World Cup.
23. I love to eat, a lot.
24. I'm pretty easy-going...try not to stress about mundane things...only the big things.
25. HUMOR and Laughter are priorities!!

Valentine's Day!

Well, for single girls it's time for probably the most dreaded "HOLIDAY" of the year...Valentine's Day. Having been single (and quite frankly, bitter) for the majority of Valentine's Days so far, I can say that dammit, EVERYDAY is suppose to be Valentine's Day!!

HOWEVER, let's face it ladies...men are..men...and after they stop trying to Woo you with sweet nothings, a sort of routine takes over, and takes away the random flowers, chocolates, and presents which he used to give you just for being you. SOOO, this is your one day to remind him just how lucky he is to have you in his life.

How are you going to do that? Buy yourself some pretty lingerie and underwear (all courtesy of his credit card, of course!)

If you're petite, www.ItsyBitsyBraBar.com has something perfect and affordable (if you want to go easy on the guy), or high end (some great new silk/lace items from the Fleur'T brand in England just arrived.)

Or, if you're single (like me)...get yourself some nice jewelry accesories and treat yourself to a night out on the town with some of your best friends.
And if THEY have men...well, go out anyway, and be the confident, successful, little woman you know you are!

The feeling of Getting my First Sale!!

Hi World,

This weekend I had the best felling!! I got my first "real" sale after about a week of my site being online. (Real means from a complete stranger, not friends or family)

I was amazing.. at 12:42am Saturday morning I checked my phone before going to sleep, and as I was looking, the buzzing came though and I saw an email saying "order"...I was sooo ecstatic!! It was such a thrilling feeling to think that Finally after almost 2 years of planning, Itsy Bitsy Bra Bar DOES exist to the outside world! People CAN reap the benefits.

I wanted to wake someone up and tell them (but decided against it!). So when i woke up on saturday morning and saw my mom, I did the funniest Happy Dance ever! (I don't think I've ever done a "happy dance" in my life, coming to think of it!)

Well, just wanted to share my experience with you all...I hope it happens a lot more frequently...success fells wonderfu!

love,
v.

Happy MLK Jr. Day!

Twice in two days--i'm suprising even myself.

It's Martin Luther King Day--it's also the day before the big Inauguration!! Lots of festivities going on in DC and around the country. In Brooklyn alone, tons of restaurants are offering specials and having big parties, etc. Normally, I don't like to discuss politics because many people are so devoted to their own views that there is not even a slight chance they will listen and seriously consider any other opinion. However as a sidenote, I would like to say that I, like everyone else, am hoping a change in admininstration has positive effects. I am wary though when people think things are going to change overnight. After January 20th, our economy will still be struggling, millions of people will still be unemployed (with more likely to be layed off), and we will still have several wars going on abroad. America is the most resilient country and though it will take time, I'm confident we will be booming once again.

Anyway as promised, the story of Vitch. My name, Vitra, is very unusual..other than some nicknames from my family, no one in the outside world dared try to come up with a nickname because everything just didn't sound right. When I was doing my MBA, my roommate Keisha, who's Ms. Fabulous herself, started calling me Vitchy. I was going to Carnival in Trinidad and thought it would be fun to have a t-shirt that said something funny that would make me stand out. So I had one made that said "One Hot Vitch", and everyone in Trinidad loved it. So now, that's my "cool" name (or so I tell myself.) There are now several variations--Vitch, Vitchy, Vitchy Swa.

Today, I also signed up for several startup business websites. I figured it might be a good way to learn from fellow small business owners and expand my horizons...I'll keep you posed.

New Year, New Goals

Hi Everyone,

I must admit, this is a little strange for me. I've never really written about myself, much less put myself out there to the entire cyber world. I guess over the next few days/weeks I will be trying to figure out on personal level what (if anything) crosses the lines, or makes me feel uncomfortable in sharing.

I will be totally honest and say that the idea for this blog is mostly to share my business website and get feedback from those people who are interested in my service--opinions, suggestions, likes, dislikes, etc. As a way to reach out to possible customers. I guess it's true that trying to put your name out there will make people do things they normally would not even think about.

Some goals I had for 2009 was to start my own business (done!) and to work hard to make it a success (in progress), but another thing I wanted to do more of this year was to get back to writing. So in a strange way, I hope this blog will help me accomplish this goal.

I will try my best to write about a whole range of things, and not just my website (which, by the way is, www.ItsyBitsyBraBar.com). But dont worry, I'm positive there there will be many frustrations of my site that I will need to vent about.

By the way, to share with you with my site actually is--it's petite undergarments for petite women. It's soooo frustrating for women with small busts to find nice bras and lingerie--my site has brands people know about...but only is sizes XS, S, 28A, 30A, 32AA, 32A..etc...you might as well check it out!

Until next time...
