Happy MLK Jr. Day!

Twice in two days--i'm suprising even myself.

It's Martin Luther King Day--it's also the day before the big Inauguration!! Lots of festivities going on in DC and around the country. In Brooklyn alone, tons of restaurants are offering specials and having big parties, etc. Normally, I don't like to discuss politics because many people are so devoted to their own views that there is not even a slight chance they will listen and seriously consider any other opinion. However as a sidenote, I would like to say that I, like everyone else, am hoping a change in admininstration has positive effects. I am wary though when people think things are going to change overnight. After January 20th, our economy will still be struggling, millions of people will still be unemployed (with more likely to be layed off), and we will still have several wars going on abroad. America is the most resilient country and though it will take time, I'm confident we will be booming once again.

Anyway as promised, the story of Vitch. My name, Vitra, is very unusual..other than some nicknames from my family, no one in the outside world dared try to come up with a nickname because everything just didn't sound right. When I was doing my MBA, my roommate Keisha, who's Ms. Fabulous herself, started calling me Vitchy. I was going to Carnival in Trinidad and thought it would be fun to have a t-shirt that said something funny that would make me stand out. So I had one made that said "One Hot Vitch", and everyone in Trinidad loved it. So now, that's my "cool" name (or so I tell myself.) There are now several variations--Vitch, Vitchy, Vitchy Swa.

Today, I also signed up for several startup business websites. I figured it might be a good way to learn from fellow small business owners and expand my horizons...I'll keep you posed.
